Spring Break Fun in Kansas City

Charlie's Spring Break fell pretty early in March this year ... We had already decided a May Beach Trip was on the calendar, instead of our usual August time frame ... so we opted for a fun long weekend get away with family and friends in Kansas City.

We started out on Thursday morning and met the Sutherland and Carroll families at the Dinosaur Cafe for lunch. Lot's to see and do here and the kids had lots of fun. It was a sunny day so we walked around the Legends Shopping Center until the kids were ready to head back and swim at the hotel.

After a short swim session we met my cousin Josie ... and her two littles for dinner - Pizza and Ice Cream! Charlie loved being with Luca and Antonella, like always!

And ... back to the hotel for MORE swimming ...
The next morning we were up and at em ... Breakfast at the hotel and then on over to crown center for a morning visit at the Aquarium.

Couldn't resist a quick stop in the LEGO land gift shop before lunch ... a teaser of our afternoon activities to come ...
We took a lunch break across the street at Fritz's ...

And then on to LEGO land!

So So Much to see and do ... We watched a movie inside the 4D theatre, took a ride and shot bad guys, saw a replica of KC built out of LEGO's, built and created! We were there for about five hours and if it were up to Charlie, would have stayed longer I'm sure!

Here are some shots of Charlie's racing vehicle he built and raced!

Such a fun time to share with our pals!

When we finally convinced them it was time to leave ... We decided on Buca de Pepo for dinner on the plaza. With such a large (read: wound up and rambunctious) group, we were thrilled to be seated in the "Pope Room." Melissa and I got a big kick out of how lucky they made it sound that we were able to score the most prestigious table in the house! We rolled with it, and the kids had a great time! We ordered WAAAAY to much food and headed back to the hotel ---- to build more LEGO's. The kids were dying to put together their gift shop purchases!

The next morning at breakfast we added a very special visitor to our table ... Aunt LuLu flew in from NYC to spend the week with us ... and attend the 30th Bday celebration of our dear cousin Regan.

We spent the day in Liberty with the Rockenfield family, and headed out that night to celebrate the big Bday! A large Mexican feast followed by an Irish Hoolie concert in a historic theatre downtown. It was a FUN night.

We were missing Aggie of course ... but it was so nice to be together and end such a fun Spring Break Get Away with family!
