We returned home last Saturday after a fun filled, wonderful week at the beach. Not just any beach... our favorite - Rosemary Beach in the beautiful stat of Florida. Josh and I spent our baby moon here two summers ago and haven't stopped thinking about it since.
We started our journey, driving, on Friday the 13th... that day we only made it to Tupelo, MS. We arrived around 4:30 in the afternoon and let Charlie run WILD around the hotel in attempts to wear off some energy. He and I also went for a dip in the hotel pool, we grabbed a quick bite for dinner and then hit the hay before the second leg of the trip we made on Saturday.
We arrived at Rosemary around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and checked in to our carriage house. Laura and Rob's carriage house was it's name - here are a few pics.. check out the stairs... it was quaint, translation = small. But it did the trick. A table for breakfast, a kitchen for packing beachside picnic lunches, a shower for rinsing sand and a bed to rest our heads at the end of several fun filled days!
After a little unpacking we made our way to the Summer Kitchen for dinner. It's dowtown Rosemary - casual and low key and has great seafood dishes. Our first meal didn't disappoint either but we both quickly realized - dining out would be a bit different this time around with an impatient 19 month old! We pretty much chug our drinks, immediately order for him and ask for the check when they bring the food - when Charlie is done, everyone should be done. It made for quick dining experiences. We hit up the sugar shack (our favorite) for some ice cream and then headed to the nearest "green" to play. Such a great first night.
After lots of digging Josh headed back to meet a group of friends from Springfield to golf at a local country club. Charlie and I spent the day on the beach and in the pool - after a quick nap Josh was home and we cleaned up for dinner. That night we met our friends the Rosses' in Seaside for dinner at Great Southern Cafe. It was delicious, some of the best shrimp and grits I have ever had. So fun to get the kiddos together as well. They ran and ran and ran on the amphitheater green at Seaside! We grabbed some ice cream to end the night and headed back to Rosemary.
Monday brought some more sunshine but still a tad on the cooler side. It was great for Charlie though and we spent the entire day at the beach. That night we met the The Russells, the Lurveys and Allie and Justin for dinner. Erin and Doug have been leasing a house at Watersound for the last year so I was anxious to check that community out. It was really nice, the houses were darling - not so much set up as a beach town though - their house was well decorated and I could definitely see why they were enjoying Florida life!
