End of Summer

So Fall has arrived... and so much has happened since my last post about the Beach! We returned home at the end of August refreshed and ready for a change in seasons...

We spent a quiet Labor Day weekend at home.. getting lots of things done in our new home braking for some fun BBQing with friends in between.

The next week was a blur... Josh turned 3-0 this year on Friday the 10th and I had planned a big Birthday Celebration weekend! I know I can be a bit much when I want something done and when it comes to my house I can be down right obsessive! (Hey, at least I can admit it) I know I drove Josh crazy this week trying to get everything just perfect for the weekend. Honestly, it's a wonder he made it to see the big 3-0!

I had lots of birthday surprises in store... starting with a Big Green Egg grill first from my family and two of his closest friends and their families coming in for the weekend. He was so surprised to look over and see the Terry, Emily and Sweet Grayce (from Des Moines) on Friday night when he came home. We had pizza and visited until the wee hours. Trying to stay awake for the next surprise, Zach and Angie and their little guy Landon! They drove all the way from Dubuque, in pouring down rain - 11 hours total to get here! Didn't pull into the driveway until almost 3:00 a.m. Terry did all he could to keep Josh awake but he had finally caved and come to bed. So the Schultz family just snuck right in and shocked him! That night he rolled over and thanked me and said he couldn't wait to see what else the weekend had in store - I told him not more surprises..... sorry!

Friday morning the boys golfed early and the girls stayed home with the kids. They all played together so well. Grayce is almost three and Landon is just 3 months older than Charlie. They had a great time! It could not have been a prettier fall weekend here either, the weather was great. That afternoon we had more of our Springfield friends join us at the house for the Iowa vs. Iowa State game. Charlie was decked in his gear, complete with a Hawkeye tattoo from his new friend Grayce! It was so fun to all be together and have our first "party" in the new house!

It ended up being the perfect weekend for Josh and I couldn't be happier to bring them all together! Thanks again to the Reiners and the Schultz's for making the trip down! It was a wonderful treat to have all our Iowa friends here in Missouri!

The weekend after we had a fun filled birthday party for Charlie's good friend Lincoln Catlett. It was a cowboy party on their farm and it was too much fun!

The following Friday, we packed up the car and headed to Iowa for the weekend. Charlie loved being on the farm and of course with his Iowa family. Everyone got a visit and we had a great time. Gus of course always enjoys this trip as well. We were able to have a night out (thanks to Nana and Aunt Monica for watching Charlie) on Friday night with friends and then did a complete family day on Saturday.

I have pictures from all these adventures... but I currently can not figure out how to get them off my memory card... stay tuned!

The Beach... Part One.

I am finally getting around to uploading some of our hundreds (literally) of pictures from our beach vacation with my family.

It seemed like every time I turned around Charlie was doing something new.. and of course it was up to me to document all these new things - Josh thinks I am crazy but I catch him more times than he would like to admit going back through the old pictures with a HUGE smile on his face.

We started off the trip on Tuesday (August 24th) afternoon around Charlie's nap time. Yes, that's right, we drove. First and last time for that adventure I am pretty sure... we are not cross country driving family types I am afraid. I guess we realized this about
Jonesboro, Arkansas. The first night we made it as far as Aunt Aggie's apartment in Huntsville, Alabama. We woke up Wednesday afternoon with the plan of heading over to Aggie's new store, she is the Visual coordinator for the Anthropolgie in Huntsville. After a smooth hour and a half detour on a commute that should have taken 10 minutes, we made it. I was completely blown away at all she had accomplished and created. Her displays were so wonderful and I am so glad we finally made it! We are so proud of you Aunt Aggie and wish you all the best in Huntsville.

We then hit the road to complete our journey to Tybee. We pulled onto the island about 7:30 that evening. My sister Lucy was already there and we were beat! Charlie did great overall, only a few restless moments along the way but they were to be expected with ALL that driving.

After a good nights sleep we woke up to a great beach day...
