The Beach

My mother started to plan for our annual Armstrong Family Beach week around the the 12 week mark of our pregnancy ... I was so happy that everyone jumped on board at the idea of taking the trip in May instead of August this year! Made my vacation so much more enjoyable. And gave us something to look forward to in the near future after that terrible winter we had just wrapped up.

May is a lovely time to be at the beach. We went the last week of the "off season" where there are just little children around and it's still not too crowded. Josh and I spent a weekend there for our BabyMoon with Charlie - right around the same time in our pregnancies as well - 20 weeks. The mornings are cooler - perfect for enjoying the use of the porches available at our house that we had never utilized in August!

Not much changes in Rosemary Beach, another reason we love it so much - it seems to get better and better actually. We visited all our favorite spots and got to spend the WHOLE week with both our aunts this year which was a huge bonus!

I can't think of a better way to "kick off" your summer than being picked up from your last day of school to be whisked away to the beach - and that's just what happened for Charlie Boy! We stayed the night in Birmingham and arrived at the beach Saturday afternoon. We always hit the ground running and have the best week.

This year was ALL about Charlie (which, let's be honest, isn't much of a change) but I really wanted to take it all in, our last summer at the beach with just our first born. Taking our time to take it all in and reverse the lifestyle that we have become to accustom to at home - one thing to the next, schedule schedule schedule ... Relaxation was the name of the game and we did a pretty good job of capitalizing on that laid back beach lifestyle! We truly enjoyed every minute of our trip this year, and can't wait to introduce Miss Edith to our happy place next year! Hopefully in May again, so we don't have to wait!

Charlie's favorite spot ... Duckies, in Seaside.
This year with came home with "Feather -Egg" the owl.

Three of my favorites on the beach at sunset in Seaside

Our dear friends the Rosses' happened to be at the beach the same week again, this has happened one other time, so we met them one morning at Charlie's Doughnut Truck in Alys Beach and for some play time on the fountains.

Our days were Sunny ... Just how we like them!

The Ross clan came to RB one afternoon for swimming too!

Shopping with Mom is always fun!

This time we came away with "Shark's Tooth"

Couldn't love these two any more!

I have a picture of myself standing on this same walkway

On our last evening, we had dinner at our favorite spot in RB, Summer Kitchen, and the snow cone stand was opening for the first time - CGH of course had been waiting all week to sample one - and of course they were going to close before we were going to be done with our dinner- so in true Grandmother fashion, my mom gave him the green light to have his dessert before his meal - and told be he was on vacation. He loved it of course!

Another HUGE thank you to my parents for treating us to yet another wonderful week at the beach!
