The first weekend in December was a special one ... Aunt Monica's wedding weekend. Our little family had three special parts to play. Josh would give her away, Charlie would be the ring bearer and I would stand with her as one of three bridesmaids. We were all so looking forward to the trip - flying out of Branson early Friday morning, arriving in Chicago around 12:30 in the afternoon and beating all the traffic and kicking off the wedding weekend with the rehearsal at 6pm that evening.
Mother Nature unfortunately had other plans. A blizzard (by Missouri's standards) started Thursday evening and dumped close to a foot of snow on top of a good layer of existing ice. Our original flight was cancelled and we were fortunate to acquire seats on the 4:30 afternoon flight. We left our house at noon and set out on what would be come a two hour drive to Branson Airport, a drive that typically takes 45 minutes. By the grace of God, literally, Josh and I could not believe we were taking off .. we made it out around 5:30 that evening. We landed safely in Chicago, where they ironically had NO snow, and drove ourselves an hour North to the rehearsal dinner which had already started. Thrilled to be there, no one seemed to mind and we jumped right in the wedding mode.
We Made It!
It was a lovely day ... filled with wedding anticipation. Monica was a vision of calm cool and collected. And a beautiful bride, inside and out. The wedding and reception were filled with good food, plenty of drinks, lots of dancing and the laughter of friends and family. A perfect weekend for the happy couple and we were thrilled to be a part of it!
