Did everyone give up on me.. did you think I forgot I had a blog?
I didn't and I'm sorry I have been neglecting it for so long. Are you sick of seeing how "thankful" we are.
Let's catch up, it's only the end of January for heaven's sake - so let's get through December and the happenings of the new year so far. I promise to be better, and more consistent - once we are all up to date!
December seemed to come as fast as it went. I LOVE the Christmas season - much to my husband's dismay at times. I love a good holiday event and I am pretty good at dragging my boys to just about anything that has to do with celebrating. Charlie for now seems to go with the flow but I'm sure someday he will balk at me for hauling him out of the house on a perfectly quiet Saturday in December.
With that said, I have a friend, a good friend, who enjoys holiday events as much - if not more than I do. Miss Emily is always up for a festive night of lights, a santa visit or a Christmas parade - which brings us to our first Holiday outing for the 2012 season. The Springfield Christmas Parade - It was on the first Saturday afternoon in December and my car said it was 50 degrees. Not factoring in the wind I under dressed Charlie and we were on our way. Turns out it was much cooler and we didn't make it too long - but we did stay long enough to see our friend Drew in the parade with his boyscout troop. We scored some candy and had a fun time waving to the Christmas characters with Clay.
That evening Charlie and I whipped up our first of many batches of Christmas cookies. This is a fun tradition we have done for the last two years. I roll, Charlie cuts, I ice and he sprinkles. It's such fun!
I love this pose.
Hands on the hips equals one proud cookie sprinkler.
Happy with the end result and all hopped up on sugar no doubt!
The following Thursday we loaded up with Holly and Henry and drove to Branson for "The Polar Express" Christmas train ride.
We met Charlie's friend Boone and his mama Ashley
and ended up having a really fun night.
They punched Charlie's initials in his ticket - just like the book.
Funny Story: When the gentleman asked Charlie what his middle name was he quickly responded, in his best ozark draw "handsome" - not sure where that came from, but we all got a good laugh out of it.
Sunday afternoon we had brunch with Santa a Hickory Hills Country Club with the Ross family.
Charlie wasn't shy at all - he asked for one thing, a "Batman Cave" and of course this was the one thing Josh and I had decided to pass on buying since we already had so much. Needless to say we made a trip to Toys R' Us on Monday for that "Batman Cave."
The Ross kiddos - with their newest addition, baby sister Rebecca.
Our friend Jack Sutherland was there too
so we got a little "car" time in.
So... as you see we kicked off our holiday season right... More to come!
