The Great Outdoors.

We are loving this spring time weather, and all the fun outdoor activities it brings along. EXCEPT weeding... and we have ALOT of WEEDING. On the weekends you can find this family in the yard, Josh on his fancy new mower, Charlie swinging the golf club or climbing on rocks, Gus greeting anything with a pulse as they stroll by and me WEEDING. Josh will tell you otherwise but I have definitely put in my time. Truth be told the majority of the work has fallen on him - literally if you count the rocks he has dropped on his fingers lately!

It's coming along and I have a few pics taken of the before and will do an after as soon as they are ready. These pics were taken last weekend at our first picnic. We are also working on self feeding - you will see more of that in the pics to come.

A Year and a Half

This is a hard one to believe.

My baby boy is a year and a half old?? Well, almost, on the 23rd I guess.

We had a doctors appointment last Monday and Charlie got nothing but good reports. He weighs 27lbs (75-90%) and is in the 90% for his height. They pricked his finger to check his iron levels and for anemia and he just watched, didn't make a peep. Unfortunately he noticed when they started shooting up his legs! We also found out what we assumed was allergies was definately double pink eye. Getting those drops in the eyes sure are fun.....

Charlie says:
Dadda (all the time)
Mom - Mah (with an English Accent)
Bah - Pah (grandpa Armstrong)

Juice
Cheese
Cooooh - keee

No Gus yet, just squeals when he is around

He has the best appetite and is so open to trying new things. The doctor says this will change and he will become more picky.. I hope she is wrong... The kid had salmon and asparagus for dinner tonight! Love it!

He sleeps from 8pm to 7:30 - 8am. Takes a two hour nap at least also in the afternoon. He is getting really attached to his brown and blue polka dot blankie, this is new, but we will go over to the crib to request it to come downstairs with us. More and more we are weaning away from the binks. Hoping to soon limit them to the crib (ok.. and maybe the car).

He has been advanced to the next class at school - big step that brings new privileges. Art projects (mom and dad's favorites) and also playing in the gymnasium or even outside when it is warm enough! BIG DEAL! He seems to still really enjoy his time at school and heads to the back door when I tell him it is time!

We are still loving our swim class on Tuesday nights - dad dunks him under every chance he gets! Really looking forward to swimming this summer more and more.

Everyday is something new with this one... we are loving every minute!

First Spring BBQ

Last Friday night we had the Bonebrakes and the Rosses over for a BBQ. The children ran wild and the adults tried to engage in a somewhat "adult" conversation. I'd say we all had a pretty good time. Looking forward to many more!

March...

March was a great month. After all that birthday celebration it was nice to have some calm weekends. Looking back ... I couldn't tell you what we did to fill those weekends but I know they fly by way too fast! More cold weather in March meant a lot more time inside! Unfortunately. The sun is shining now and we are getting our fill but for a while it seemed Spring was never going to come!

Charlie had his "spring break" in March which was a big week for us. Wednesday my mom, Charlie and I packed up the car early and headed to see Grandma Alice in Sedalia. We arrived around lunch time and Charlie did his best to charm each and every senior citizen in that dining room. Smiling and carrying on he loved being the center of attention like always. We spent the afternoon visiting with Grandma Alice (who will be 90 in August) and wheeling up and down the hall on her walker. (Charlie's favorite) I really do love the days we are able to spend in Sedalia with Grandma Alice and wish we were closer so they weren't so few and far between.

My mom stayed with us that night and then Thursday morning she and Charlie set out on another adventure... Charlie's first night away from home without Josh or I. We loaded up the car, I listed out his schedule and they were on their way to Carthage. Charlie did great, Josh and I - on the other hand were questionable at times. As they pulled away Josh said, "I can't wait till Saturday " (when Charlie was scheduled to return home). We made the best of the situation though and did end up enjoying ourselves.

I took those two days off and got a TON done around the house. Finishing up little projects and cleaning out ALL the closets. Felt wonderful! Josh worked.. alot those two days too. But we both managed a little down time with a massage and pedi for me and a round of golf for Josh. We had dinners out both nights at adult restaurants and even saw a movie! First time together in a year and a half! So fun. We cleaned out the garage and did some yard work as well.

Charlie made it home on Saturday afternoon around 3 o'clock and Josh and I took every opportunity until work on Monday morning to spoil him of course. Thanks so much to Grandma and Grandpa Armstrong for our few days off - we love and appreciate you so much! xoxo
